Nu Quantum, a Cambridge-based deep-tech company spun out from research at the Cavendish Laboratory, is hiring a Head of Quantum Hardware for a full-time, permanent, on-site role with visa sponsorship available. The company is building scalable quantum networking infrastructure by integrating novel quantum photonic technologies, working with leading industry and academic partners to accelerate the real-world impact of quantum computing. Reporting to the Head of Engineering and Operations and collaborating closely with the VP of Technology and other department heads, this leadership role involves overseeing the development of quantum hardware, guiding technical teams, and ensuring project delivery while aligning with Nu Quantum’s technical strategy and innovation goals. Key responsibilities include line management of discipline leads across hardware teams, planning and resource allocation, technical decision-making, ensuring robust workflows, high-quality documentation, project coordination, and representing the company at industry and research events. The company is seeking candidates with postgraduate qualifications in experimental physics related to quantum computing or quantum simulation, leadership experience in industry or academia, expertise in qubit control, quantum optics and photonics, team management and mentoring experience, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities, with desirable attributes including industry experience, work in quantum error correction, electronics/control systems expertise, and budget planning.
