Tracer is hiring a Founding Senior Backend Engineer in London to architect and build the core systems that transform production alerts into reliable, defensible root cause analysis (RCA) and fix suggestions for AI-powered data pipelines. As an early-stage, venture-backed startup, Tracer is developing autonomous AI agents for production systems, and this role will own the end-to-end backend architecture including alert ingestion and normalization, context enrichment, hypothesis orchestration, investigation runtime, artifact generation, and reporting. The tech stack includes Python with LangGraph for multi-agent workflows, Rust for high-performance systems, ClickHouse for large-scale event storage, AWS and Terraform for infrastructure, and Next.js with TypeScript for frontend collaboration. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend and distributed systems foundations, experience shipping production-grade systems, and a high-ownership startup mindset. The role offers a competitive compensation package of £150,000–£220,000+ including meaningful equity, 30 days annual leave, health insurance, visa sponsorship, team offsites, and the opportunity to build a world-class AI product from the ground up.
