Orbex is seeking a Senior Fluid Systems Design Engineer to support the AIT Department, focusing on the design, development, analysis, and integration of complex fluid delivery systems for test sites in Kinloss and Spaceport. The role includes engineering LPG, Water Deluge, Gaseous Helium, Helium Transfer, and Liquid Nitrogen systems, creating P&IDs, thermal protection, and insulation integration. Responsibilities involve conducting CFD, FEA, and thermal simulations, developing and executing test plans, overseeing fabrication and assembly, collaborating with launch platform and propulsion teams, participating in system commissioning, developing technical documentation, and managing multiple projects. Candidates should have a background in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, extensive experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks), fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, high-pressure gas and cryogenic systems, numerical analysis tools, engine performance modeling, and hands-on testing and troubleshooting. Desirable traits include aerospace or launch vehicle experience, familiarity with launch pad fluid systems and GSE, and prototype development of high-pressure or cryogenic systems.
