About the job

Procter & Gamble (P&G), a global leader in consumer goods with iconic brands such as Gillette, Fairy, and Oral-B, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join the Gillette team in Reading, United Kingdom, focusing on delivering new manufacturing equipment and process innovations with an emphasis on automated assembly machines and automation. This role will support the electrical engineering scope of Gillette’s Blades & Razors Manufacturing Equipment globally, based at the Reading Tech Center with opportunities for international travel of around 25% annually. The position involves responsibilities such as electrical design, software development, managing the build, installation, and qualification of equipment across worldwide manufacturing sites, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and test new equipment and technologies, reviewing and approving electrical design documents, ensuring equipment installations meet regulatory requirements (OSHA, NFPA, CE, UL, etc.), and developing and troubleshooting control systems including PLCs, HMIs, and industrial devices. The team operates a hybrid work model, typically onsite three days per week, though full onsite presence is required during equipment building, validation, and testing phases. P&G offers a dynamic and inclusive work environment, meaningful work from day one, and opportunities for career growth, alongside competitive benefits such as a double-matched pension scheme, private medical insurance, a P&G-contributed share programme, 25 days’ holiday, and a flexible benefits fund. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with relevant experience in manufacturing equipment, demonstrate expertise in industrial controls (preferably Rockwell architecture via ePLAN or AutoCAD), have experience with machine safety and CE marking, and bring strong leadership, communication, and technical problem-solving skills. Candidates must be able to manage projects through the full design, manufacture, debugging, and commissioning phases, with willingness to travel as required. Technical skills including PLC programming, HMI development, electrical hardware design, machine safety, validation, loss elimination, and product lifecycle management are essential. P&G is willing to provide visa sponsorship for qualified candidates subject to UK Home Office requirements and ensures equal opportunity employment, valuing diversity and providing reasonable accommodations for applicants with disabilities.
