A well-established and rapidly growing engineering business based in North Staffordshire is currently looking to hire an Electrical Design Engineer to become a key part of their expanding research and development and production team. The company is highly regarded for its cutting-edge, bespoke, high-performance systems that are primarily used in critical power testing environments, and they have earned a strong reputation for producing robust and technically advanced product solutions. This is an exciting, hands-on design role that places the successful candidate in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment where they will be responsible for leading the full electrical specification and integration of complex control systems. From interpreting and translating customer requirements into efficient, compliant, and cost-effective designs, to overseeing the entire process through to the final production handover, the role requires end-to-end involvement in all technical aspects of design. The engineer will be tasked with producing detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings, as well as selecting and specifying components based on performance, regulatory compliance, and availability. Collaboration is essential, as the role involves close work with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure smooth and complete product integration. Additionally, the role includes supporting prototype development, managing communications with suppliers, and preparing comprehensive documentation such as bills of materials (BOMs), calculations, and regulatory compliance packs. Applicants should have a strong foundation in electrical and control panel design, be proficient in using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks Electrical, and possess experience with creating electrical schematics and selecting appropriate components. An engineering qualification such as a degree, HND, or HNC is preferred but not mandatory. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing several concurrent projects in a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment and should demonstrate excellent communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and a proactive, problem-solving approach. The company offers an attractive salary package ranging from £35,000 to £55,000 depending on experience, along with benefits including an enhanced pension scheme, AXA medical insurance, flexible working hours, and paid overtime. Located in Staffordshire, the role is commutable from surrounding areas including Nottingham, Derby, Burton-upon-Trent, Lichfield, Swadlincote, and Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Most importantly, visa sponsorship is available for experienced candidates who are already residing in the UK, making this an excellent opportunity for skilled professionals seeking career advancement in a supportive and innovative work environment.
