The Digital Collections Systems Specialist will be responsible for developing and maintaining digital collections and discovery applications to support the University of Glasgow’s research and educational goals. The role includes enhancing existing systems, designing and developing new features, ensuring operational support, and integrating third-party services or APIs. A key focus will be on Archives & Special Collections’ management systems, discovery platforms, and digital preservation solutions. The successful candidate will collaborate with IT Services and the Digital Library Team, monitor and improve service accessibility and cybersecurity, troubleshoot technical issues, and advise senior colleagues on digital innovation. The role requires fluency in several high-level web technologies (such as Python, JavaScript, XML, JSON, RDF, and MySQL), understanding of metadata schemas and digital preservation protocols, and experience working with open-source software and collaborative development. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to support cross-functional teams and manage projects aligned with the University's strategic goals. The position is full-time, open-ended, and may be eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship under UK government rules.
