The DevOps Engineer role at Jisc offers the opportunity to work with OpenAthens, a service that provides user-friendly access management for academics, students, scientists, and library patrons. In this position, you will be responsible for improving the quality, stability, and security of the OpenAthens service by making infrastructure and code changes, providing third-line support for advanced technical issues, patching to maintain security, and releasing new features into live service. Additionally, you will proactively support service management, maintain monitoring of all services, and contribute to technical documentation for the infrastructure and application architecture. The role also involves assisting with onboarding new technologies, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues, and staying up-to-date with emerging technologies. A successful candidate will have proven experience in Java development, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud and AWS, container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
