The Data Science Manager – Financial Crime role at Monzo is a senior leadership position responsible for leading a team of data scientists and analysts focused on improving the detection, prevention, and mitigation of financial crime. Based in London, Cardiff, or remote within the UK, the role involves close collaboration with Product Managers, Risk and Engineering teams to build and evolve Monzo’s financial crime strategy using data-driven solutions. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with at least four years of experience as a data science manager (two of which involve managing a team of 4+), strong stakeholder management skills, and technical proficiency in Python and SQL. The manager will be responsible for hiring and developing talent, shaping data strategy, and ensuring regulatory requirements are met. Monzo fosters a culture of data-driven decision-making and values impactful work that changes lives rather than simply selling financial products. The company offers a salary of £135,000 to £155,000, stock options, flexible working, and visa sponsorship for eligible candidates. The interview process includes a recruiter call, a hiring manager interview, and three technical interviews, all designed to assess leadership, technical, and strategic abilities.
