The Francis Crick Institute is seeking a Connectomics Data Analysis Engineer for a full-time, fixed-term three-year position based in London, UK. This role focuses on developing machine learning-based computational pipelines for volume electron microscopy-based connectomics, aiming to analyze the synaptic wiring of insect and mammalian brains. The engineer will be involved in major connectome projects, staying updated with the latest research, implementing novel computational methods, and contributing to high-impact scientific publications. The ideal candidate will have expertise in connectomics, a strong mathematical and programming background (especially in Python, NumPy, and PyTorch), and experience working with large-scale bioimaging datasets. Responsibilities include designing machine learning models for neuron segmentation, synapse identification, and performance evaluation, as well as collaborating with researchers across neuroscience and computer vision domains.
