Astroscale UK is seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Computer Vision Team Lead to guide the UK-based CV team within the global Algorithms & Software Group. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of real-time computer vision and image processing software for spacecraft and ground systems, contributing to Astroscale’s mission of removing space debris and supporting safe orbital operations. You will collaborate with global engineering teams, oversee algorithm development for object detection, tracking, and pose estimation, and deliver high-quality, efficient software for safety-critical space applications. Responsibilities include managing a diverse team, reviewing technical work, planning and tracking project milestones, supporting recruitment, and fostering an innovative learning culture. The role also involves designing pose-estimation modules, benchmarking algorithms, participating in verification activities, and contributing to embedded and safety-critical software development. Essential requirements include a degree in Computer Science or relevant engineering fields, 5+ years of experience in computer vision development, 3+ years of team leadership, strong programming skills in Python/Matlab/C/C++, deep understanding of ML and CV frameworks, experience with Lidar processing, Git workflows, and solid documentation and project management abilities. Desirable skills include experience in space systems, vision-based navigation, embedded systems, rigid body dynamics, and CI/CD pipelines.
