Selby Jennings is hiring a Blockchain Engineer for their Trading Technology team in London. The role involves designing and building high-performance Ethereum infrastructure, focusing on low-latency block-building systems and MEV (Maximal Extractable Value). The engineer will work on entirely greenfield projects, scaling sequencing capabilities, and shaping the future of decentralized finance infrastructure. Responsibilities include building ultra-low-latency blockchain infrastructure, designing high-throughput systems for block building and MEV, collaborating with a small, high-impact engineering team, taking ownership of projects from design through deployment, and contributing to Ethereum infrastructure at scale. Candidates should have a strong systems engineering background, experience with Rust or similar low-level languages, proven ability to drive greenfield projects end-to-end, familiarity with L1/L2 blockchain infrastructure, protocol-level development, MEV, testnet setup, node operations, or smart contract workflows, and strong system design and backend/distributed systems skills. The role offers competitive salary, profit-sharing bonuses, equity, a collaborative non-hierarchical team culture, new offices in central London, and full relocation support including visa sponsorship. Ideal candidates are self-starters, fast learners, and comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
