About the job

We are seeking a Benchmarking Engineer with a strong understanding of propulsion architectures, energy flow, and vehicle-level performance to support our engineering and electric vehicle (EV) development. The candidate will lead and conduct benchmarking activities focused on xHEV propulsion systems, including vehicle teardown, instrumentation, and testing, while collecting and analyzing data on engines, motors, transmissions, and batteries through both physical tests and simulations. Responsibilities include generating detailed technical reports, building competitive intelligence databases, and collaborating with cross-functional teams such as propulsion, electrical, calibration, and systems engineering to drive innovation and strategy. Additional duties involve analyzing and comparing propulsion systems and components, evaluating key vehicle performance metrics, conducting teardown studies, defining development goals based on benchmarking insights, and using visual tools like scatter band diagrams to present data. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of experience in automotive benchmarking or propulsion engineering, hands-on experience with xHEV or EV platforms, proficiency in tools like INCA, CANalyzer, MATLAB, and strong reporting and communication skills. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Electrical Engineering is required. This role offers a competitive salary based on experience, UK Work Visa sponsorship for eligible candidates, pension scheme, 28 days of annual and bank holiday leave, and potential hybrid working options to be discussed with the hiring manager.
