About the job

This permanent, part-time Band 8a position at Barts Health NHS Trust offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified pharmacist to play a pivotal role within the Clinical Informatics Team based at the Royal London Hospital. As an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist – Digital Systems, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Lead Pharmacist, Informatics in the Trust-wide development, implementation, and ongoing optimisation of electronic prescribing and medicines administration (ePMA) systems. The role requires close collaboration with the Head of IT Projects, the EPR team, and various pharmacy professionals to ensure that all digital systems related to pharmacy are aligned with clinical best practices, ensure patient safety, deliver accurate and accessible data, and meet both regulatory and operational requirements across the organisation. Key responsibilities include leading and supporting digital medicines initiatives, providing expert guidance on system configuration and validation, resolving technical and clinical challenges, and ensuring high standards of data integrity and system usability. The successful applicant will bring significant hospital-based pharmacy experience, demonstrate expertise in clinical IT systems, and possess strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills to effectively influence change, manage stakeholders, and drive quality improvement initiatives. They will be expected to contribute to system training and education, participate in national digital strategy implementation, support project planning and documentation, and act as a key interface between pharmacy, IT, and clinical services. The role also demands a sound understanding of NHS digital governance, safe pharmacy practices, patient safety principles, and relevant legislation including controlled drugs management, health and safety regulations, and the Equality Act. The post supports hybrid working arrangements and includes opportunities for professional growth within a progressive NHS trust. Importantly, this role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Skilled Worker route, welcoming qualified international applicants with the required UK professional pharmacy registration.
